Conductor, composer and pianist Simon Bruckard has worked extensively with orchestras and opera companies all over Australia, including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia, Victorian Opera, State Opera South Australia, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Ensemble Q. For Opera Australia, Simon conducted the national tour of La Bohème in 2024 and 2025 and returns to conduct Don Giovanni in 2026.

Simon is also a prolific composer and arranger. He has written for the stage, screen and concert hall. His score to the film The Golden Spurtle, which premiered to critical acclaim in March 2025, was nominated for an APRA AMCOS award for best original score for a documentary. His opera Cassandra, an original work written with Constantine Costi, was performed in March 2021 at Victorian Opera.

Simon has also written many works for young audiences, including a new adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream which is being performed by Orchestra Victoria in July 2026. Simon won a green room award for his youth opera The Selfish Giant, and his interactive Choose Your Own Adventure, commissioned by Darwin Symphony, has been performed across the Northern Territory.
